Signals the future ranking may use
- Qualified views after an active-reading threshold.
- Reading completion and intentional comparison interactions.
- Time decay so recent interest does not dominate indefinitely.
- Minimum sample thresholds before an item becomes eligible.
Signals that will not buy a ranking
- Affiliate revenue, advertising spend or brand payments.
- Unverified social claims, imported counters or fabricated traffic.
- Raw refreshes, known bots or repeated low-quality events.
- Editorial preference presented as audience popularity.
Publication threshold
An item becomes eligible only after at least 20 qualified views and 5 reading-depth or comparison events within the seven-day ranking window. A public ranking requires at least 3 eligible items and an editorial verification pass. Until then, no item receives a trending position or popularity score.
Measurement and privacy
- Collection starts only after the visitor accepts the Performance Analytics category in Cookie Preferences.
- The engine aggregates qualified views, 50% and 90% reading depth, and intentional comparison clicks. It does not create public user profiles.
- The SureCookie session identifier is used transiently for duplicate protection; the raw identifier is not stored in engagement records. Daily content totals use a rolling 31-day retention window.
- Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track are respected. Known bots and signed-in editors are excluded.
