Capacity, channels and stability
Choose memory capacity for the real workload before chasing headline frequency. Use a matched kit, populate the motherboard-recommended slots and treat overclocked XMP or EXPO profiles as conditional settings rather than guaranteed defaults.
Compatibility checklist
- Confirm DDR generation and module type.
- Check the motherboard QVL when possible.
- Verify CPU memory-controller limits and BIOS support.
- Prefer a two-module kit for mainstream dual-channel platforms.
- Test stability after enabling a memory profile.
