How BYT01 handles corrections
BYT01 corrects factual errors clearly and preserves the evidence trail behind every product record, review and guide. Our goal is to make each meaningful change understandable—not to silently rewrite the record.
1. What we correct
We correct verifiable errors in specifications, model names, prices at the stated verification time, compatibility statements, source attribution, dates, calculations, captions and descriptions of test evidence. We also correct wording that could cause a reasonable reader to misunderstand whether BYT01 physically tested a product.
Differences of opinion are not factual errors. When a verdict changes because new evidence becomes available, we label that as an editorial update and explain the new evidence.
2. Correction levels
Minor edit
Spelling, punctuation or formatting changes that do not alter meaning may be corrected without a public note.
Material correction
A factual change that affects interpretation, compatibility, value or a buying decision receives a dated correction note describing what changed.
Evidence-status change
If a claim moves from unverified to verified—or if a source becomes unreliable—we update the evidence label, source record and limitations.
Retraction or removal
Content with a fundamental integrity problem may be withdrawn. Where legally and technically possible, the URL remains with a clear explanation.
3. How to report a possible error
Use the contact page and include the article URL, the exact statement you believe is wrong, the proposed correction and a direct supporting source. Screenshots are useful for context, but a stable manufacturer, retailer, standards body or laboratory URL is preferred when available.
Commercial requests to change an accurate conclusion, remove a disclosed limitation or conceal a product relationship are not treated as corrections.
4. Review and verification workflow
- We preserve the submitted claim and the version currently published.
- We check the exact model, region, date and source because hardware names and prices can vary by market.
- For technical claims, we prefer primary documentation or a traceable independent laboratory report.
- We update the article only after the evidence supports a specific change.
- Material changes receive a visible date and a concise explanation in the article’s update or evidence record.
When the evidence is inconclusive, we state the uncertainty instead of forcing a definitive answer.
5. Prices, availability and changing specifications
A dated price record is a snapshot, not a promise that the offer is still live. A later market movement is normally an update rather than a correction. It becomes a correction if the recorded price, retailer, availability or verification date was wrong at publication.
Manufacturers can revise specifications, firmware and regional bundles without changing the marketing name. BYT01 identifies the exact model or SKU whenever possible and records the source date so readers can distinguish a product revision from an editorial mistake.
6. Tests, benchmarks and images
BYT01 never converts a manufacturer claim or third-party measurement into a BYT01 hands-on result. If attribution, test conditions or sample origin were described incorrectly, the correction must restore the original source and limitations. Illustrations are labelled when they are not original product photographs.
Future hands-on measurements must remain reproducible through disclosed hardware, software versions, settings, ambient conditions and run methodology. A correction to a chart also requires correcting the underlying table or source record.
7. Transparency and independence
Advertisers, retailers, manufacturers and affiliate partners do not receive a private right to rewrite editorial findings. A correction is evaluated against evidence, regardless of who reports it. Where practical, a material correction is reviewed by an editor other than the original writer.
Automated tools may assist with spelling, structure or monitoring, but they must not silently introduce or alter technical claims, prices, benchmark results or verdicts.
8. Update record
Material corrections appear in the affected article with the date, the corrected point and enough context to understand the impact. Routine additions—such as a newly checked price—remain in the article’s update or price history. If no correction notice appears, no material correction has been recorded for that article.
